MEDITERRANEAN CREATIVITY
Konstantin Filippou
RESTAURANT KONSTANTIN FILIPPOU, VIENNA, AUSTRIA
Konstantin Alexander Filippou, who comes from an Austrian and Greek family, drew inspiration from Mediterranean cuisine from early on. His initial journeys through the world of cuisine led him to the UK, Spain, Asia, the USA, Scandinavia and France. He took all this inspiration back to Vienna, where, as a creative powerhouse, he was named "Austria’s most creative chef" at the "Oscar der Cuisine" in 2011. In 2013, he opened his own Restaurant Konstantin Filippou, which was awarded three GaultMillau toques just seven months later, followed by a Michelin star in 2014. In 2018, Filippou’s restaurant received one more Michelin star, and he is one of only eight chefs in Austria to have received 19 GaultMillau points and five GaultMillau toques in 2019. His Bistro O boufés boasts natural wines and outstanding cuisine – and his latest project, Restaurant Mama Konstantina, is a homage to his Greek roots, combining casual fine dining with Mediterranean flavour.
