Following the coronavirus pandemic, Werneckhof by Geisel, the restaurant where Tohru Nakamura had worked as head chef since 2013 and been awarded two Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points, had to close down. Nakamura, who had been crowned Chef of the Year in 2020, used this crisis as an opportunity. After running a pop-up restaurant for six months, Nakamura took over the old Schreiberei in Munich, carried out renovations, and, just three months after opening, received two Michelin stars. Tohru’s philosophy which led the Schreiberei to success comprises team spirit, a diverse range of produce, sustainability, quality, creativity and, above all, never compromising when it comes to preparing a feast for his guests.
