After spending time in Switzerland, France, Japan and the USA refining the art of cooking, and in particular dessert-making, René Frank moved to Germany in 2010. As head pastry chef at La Vie in Osnabrück, Frank was instrumental in helping the restaurant receive its third Michelin star two years later. CODA, which Frank opened in 2016, has also been awarded two Michelin stars. This is all the more impressive given that this Berlin restaurant only serves desserts. Michelin stars for a dessert-only restaurant! The Michelin Guide’s history spans more than 100 years, with René Frank remaining the only chef to have achieved this impressive feat. It, therefore, did not come as a surprise when, in 2022, he was crowned as the World’s Best Pastry Chef.
